Looking for labels for the Dymo 550 label printer? It's worth knowing that this printer uses a new recognition system (chip technology). As a result, for now, only original Dymo labels can be used reliably.
Buy labels for the Dymo LabelWriter 550
Unlike earlier Dymo printers, the Dymo LabelWriter 550 (and the 5XL) does not accept compatible labels by default. Although chip-enabled compatible labels were developed in the past, in practice many printers do not recognize these labels properly, or at all. That's why we no longer sell labels for the 550 and 5XL.
To avoid problems such as error messages, interruptions, or unrecognized rolls, we currently recommend using only original Dymo labels in these printers. Would you rather save on labels? Read on.
Why use only original labels?
The Dymo 550 and 5XL series use an advanced chip in the label rolls. The printer checks this chip to verify the type and authenticity of the labels. In practice, this means:
- Compatible labels don't work consistently in all printers
- Firmware updates may further limit compatibility
- Only original Dymo labels offer complete peace of mind and reliability

Want to print without any hassle with a Dymo 550 or 5XL? For now, you'll need to use original Dymo labels.
Would you rather save on label costs and use affordable compatible labels? Then it's a good idea to choose an alternative printer, such as the Aimo 650 or the Aimo 6XL. These printers are specially designed for use with compatible Dymo labels, without the limitations of chip recognition.
